I’ve had my heart valve repair/replacement moved to 3/11 at 8 am. I’ll be in the hospital for 5-7 days and won’t be posting during that time. I look forward to returning to writing in a week or two.
Meanwhile, for your listening pleasure:

My new article on Pagan+Politics, inspired by the American Family Association’s demand to stone a killer whale and SeaWorld Orlando’s curator, deals with the issue of projecting ancient law codes into the present. You can find it here.
You can find my interview with Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation at Pagan + Politics, the blog of the Pagan Newswire Collective: http://politics.pagannewswirecollective.com/2010/02/26/an-interview-with-mikey-weinstein-of-military-religious-freedom-foundation/
I hope you will take the time to give it a read. Mr. Weinstein has a very important message to get across about a threat to our freedoms that is very real and very frightening. It is one we should all take seriously.
I would like to draw attention to a new project of the Pagan Newswire Collective http://www.pagannewswirecollective.com/ called Pagan + politics http://politics.pagannewswirecollective.com/, a blog designed to talk about the controversial issues and hot topics in the news from a Pagan perspective.
There will be two conservative bloggers, two moderate/independent bloggers, and two liberal/progressive bloggers – including one Hrafnkell of A Heathen’s Day.
I think it is an exciting project and a necessary one. It is important for Pagans to come out of the shadows, and increasingly, we are. We live in an age when again a Pagan can dream of holding political office. This is a far cry from the days when I became a Pagan (the late 70s) when public acknowledgment of your beliefs could mean losing not only your job, but the roof over your head.
We’ve come a long way, baby.

I’ve written a new article for Progressive Renaissance, a new political blog (I’m doing away with my Obama blog for reasons that might be obvious to all at this point). The article is America the Progressive. Though it touches on Church-State its not primarily about that so I didn’t feel it proper to post it here; I’ll link it instead for those who might be interested. Most of my politically-oriented articles are going to NewsJunkiePost or ProgressiveNation these days, but I like to keep a little something back for myself.
