Demon Rape?

Oh hell no, not demons again, you say. Yes, I’m here to tell you, it’s demons again. And Satan too.

It’s demon rape, in fact. And no, it’s not dark fantasy fiction.

Can you be raped by the devil, conservative Christian magazine Charisma asks? Their answer is yes. You can. The Devil can rape your ass. So says Contessa Adams, author of Consequences

As bizarre as it sounds, those who minister to people in occult bondage say it’s more common than you think.

They have no idea how bizarre this sounds. Seriously. They don’t.

More common than I might think?

Here’s the proof:

For nearly two decades, Contessa Adams felt as though she had no power against the demonic violators of her body. She felt trapped in secrecy and shame and knew that the demons tormenting her wanted things to stay that way.

Contessa Adams needs psychiatric help. So does the author of this piece, Cedric Harmon. I’m probably not going too far out on a limb here to suggest that Cedric is repressing something.

Look, I don’t want to make fun of these people. I mean, I’d rather scientifically refute them, but how do you refute prurient rape fantasies?

It’s no secret that the Religious Right-controlled GOP has become rape obsessed. And it’s no secret that they’ve already fielded arguments for gay animal demons. But demons that rape you?

We’re told that “These spiritual rapists… often prey on people by performing sexual acts through nightmares and erotic dreams. Some people become so dependent upon these demonic experiences that they actually look forward to them.”

Wet dreams? People looking forward to wet dreams? Gosh. Imagine that. Especially people who are so sexually repressed that they believe in things like gay animal demons. Kierkegaard said that Christianity is belief in the absurd but I don’t think even he imagined this.

“Anybody that has been attacked by them will tell you … they’re worried [that] they could not find that pleasure with mortal people,” says Adams, who claims she was once possessed by sexual demons.

Somebody has been reading too much dark fantasy. And here’s news for you any nerdy D&D player could tell you:

The two most identifiable sexual demons are the incubus, which is a male sexual demon that traditionally assaults women, and the succubus, which is a female sexual demon that assaults men. Sometimes they also lure people into homosexual behavior.

I bet they just love that.

Adams says the succubus spirit that used to attack her confused her so much that she contemplated becoming a lesbian.

“Unless you’re strong enough to rebuke it, they’ll keep coming back,” she says. “You must speak the Word of God, knowing you have power in the name of Jesus.”

Oh, I hate it when incubi rape me so often I think about becoming gay. I just hate it.

Makes you wonder why anyone endures these repeated spiritual rapes if all they have to do is utter the “Word of God.” Maybe they like it too much?

Fortunately, there is a way to make Satan and his demonic rapists leave you alone: OBEY.

Yes, authoritarianism is like spiritual pesticide. It kills demon rapists dead. What a surprise to discover that the Church wants you to obey. Who knew?

“The Holy Spirit has to reprogram you. If you’re not programmed for obedience, it’s hard to do so,” she teaches. “Once you come out of that world, you’re learning what you can do and what you cannot do. With the Holy Spirit, if [you] go to touch that fire, He will quicken you and tell you, ‘No.'”

Adams also notes that disobedience also produces fear, which is another tool Satan uses.

Really, Yoda? Fear leads to the dark side?

Well hell. Who needs to be reprogrammed when all their kids are being sent to Hitler Youth…er, I mean, Bible camps, to be programmed at a very young age. Maybe Adams is speaking of tune-ups?

You get 50,000 miles as a believer and then into the shop you go?

I hope fundamentalists get a warranty with their baptism. I mean, I’m scratching my head wondering what Jesus died for if he left room for all these demon rapists to gang bang you in your sleep.

But here is the best part:

Adams says: “Fear is their forerunner. If you get paralyzed by fear, they actually will come and rape you. But if you draw near to God, Satan has to flee. Satan’s job is to suggest that you not draw near to God, so that he does not have to flee.”

Gotta wonder, don’t you, how many sexually repressed fundamentalists are going to bed tonight in self-generated fear just so they can get some?

I’m a full-on Heathen, as Pagan as they come. I will tell you right now that historically, demons were just another level of being above humans and below the gods. They had their own shit going on and they didn’t necessary care about humans. Some were good and some were inimical.

It was reasonable in the days before diseases were understood (you know, that science thing) to think illnesses were caused by possession.

But we have science now. We know people get sick for various reasons. none of them include demonic possession – or demonic rape. And if you really believe demonic rape is real, how can you imagine that it could happen to you if you really, genuinely feel you are protected by your god?

The problem is a lack of faith. These people are really struggling to convince themselves that they’re not wasting their time. They tend to get fanatical about it.

I sleep demon free. I mean, if some succubus that looks like Anne Hathaway wants to attack me in my sleep, I’m easy to find. But well adjusted people not struggling to convince themselves their religion is valid, and not struggling with forbidden and repressed sexual feelings, have no need of being raped by demons.

Fundamentalist Christianity, or aberrochristianity as I often call it, is a disease, and I strongly urge anyone afflicted by it to seek help immediately. If there is no 12-step program, I am certain we can arrange one for you.

Seriously. You know where to find us.

  1. Very well written, Hrafnkell…..again!

I do still float here once in a while, though hardly comment though I do enjoy your ‘essays’.

As women ‘of the flesh’ seems to elude me these days, so send me a succubus anyday (or at least tell me where I can get/invoke one)…lol..

Anyway, I chuckled as I read this…..mostly because of the inane ideas that the so-called ‘holy’ christians still insist on peddling, but also because you’re style of writing cheered me up.

I have the perfect cure for these fundamentalist christian types…..trouble is, I’d probably end up in prison ;)… perhaps I’ll let them carry on and ‘hopefully’ when they die of natural causes they’ll realise what a crock-of-shite they’ve been believing in.

well…..all power to your elbow, my friend and keep unveiling these hypocritical untruths…..bah, bloody humbug!

  2. Hey Stuart, good to see you. School is out till February so I may actually find time to post a few times. Been too long. I can only fit in so many references to Heathenry over at PoliticusUSA and still retain some relevance to American politics.

These people are nuts. I would just laugh and walk away if they weren’t trying to legislate this craziness, and force me to live in a country that operates in accordance to their fantasies. Frith!

  3. Harf…haven’t seen you over at PoliticusUSA in a while, so I thought I would moosie on over and see what you’ve been writing as a regular old heathen.

Best line: “Yes, authoritarianism is like spiritual pesticide.” It’s true; it’s part of a toxic brew meant to kill the soul and make humans sick for a very long time, if not a life time.

I wounder what Carl G Jung would think of this “dream state”? I’m not Jungian (in terms of psychological philosophy); I’ve always been more on the reality side of dreams–I believe most dreaming is just a form of pooping–the brain has to digest and eliminate the waste.

With that said, I have been recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s (no, no don’t go “poor thing”…it’s all good) and one of the symptoms or classic hallmarks of the disease is extremely vivid dreaming. I go to bed every night wondering “What movie am I going to tonight?” I digress.

Perhaps these people have created such a deep Pavlovian groove in their brain from all their obsessive triggering of anxiety, fear, repression, etc. that their amygadala shrunk of vanished; in other words, they have given themselves a self-induced psychosis is causing brain wave problem, thereby causing their rape dreams (which actually sound more like PTS as in they probably were raped as children but repressed the incident).

These are the same kind of people who used to go around selling stories (snake oil law suits) about repressed memories in people who were taken as children and used in Satanic rituals. Every single case reported has been rebuked and debunked; there are/were no Satanic rape ceremonies.
Yet, these delusions persist as a form of a night terror inducing mental illness issues generation after generation…yep, it’s funny stuff, yet, very sick.

  4. Singh, thanks for tracking me down, though I’m not really here, either, at the present. I just finished our move from Maryland to Illinois and I was either on the road or in Maryland for the past week. The last few day have been chaotic as I try to unpack, begin a new semester at school, and square away my son’s home care. I’m dying to write. I just haven’t had time.

I am sorry to hear about your Parkinson’s. My mother had Parkinson’s (and dementia) and died of it accumulated effects a few years ago. I know they have improved therapies these days, particularly for the degenerative part of the disease. I live in fear of having it myself, because Alzheimer’s is inherited and I have not been told Parkinson’s is not.

I have been trying the last day or so to catch up on what’s happening in the world and on PoliticusUSA so I can get back to writing. I have several ideas relating to the Religious Right’s continued and classic WTF moments and I hope I can get them out while they’re still relevant. Hope to see you all again soon and on a recurring basis!

  5. Hraf, Thanks for the message…

PD is such a “designer” or “boutique” random event that “the man” calls a “disease”…If were you, I would not “worry your pretty little head” over it (I love that condescending phrase :)

The research shows that by they time you get your first “tremor” you’ve already lost 50-60% of your dopamine; there is not early warnings…but, you could have a fancy DACT scan that will show if the amagldala (secrets the dopamine) is deteriorating. My “gene pool” (J1c) shows about a .0014% probability of PD–go figure.

Look at it this way, if you get it, the therapy is dancing, singing, hiking, cycling, laughing, plus, getting up at 4 AM writing your great ideas!…you couldn’t ask for a better “disease”…(if your concern is the dementia, get the test for Lewy bodies, too).

I look at it this way; I’m in a “prison” or asylum for something I didn’t do/but guilty as charged. However…I don’t let “the man” get me down…yeah, I’m an “inmate” doing my time, but I’m making the best of it. If I get down, I watch Janelle Monae doing her thang entitled “Tightrope” (Youtube Janelle Monae Tightrope).

Enough about me…good to know you’re still doing de Lard’s work, your resilient son is hopefully enjoying the new surroundings, and, we’ll hear from you soon. X

  6. Oh joy! Demons are going to have their way with me tonight because I don’t submit to a religion whose prime figure is a henotheistic zombie Jew! I am so looking forward to this!

  7. Ashley, I can only hope it was good for you. Frankly, from my perspective, the repeated visits of succubi are wearing me out…

    By the way, Happy Jól!
