Bryan Fischer Nithing of the Week – Again

Bryan Fischer has outdone himself. There are a number of points on which I can get him again this week, but I have chosen his intolerant religious stance because this is a religiously-oriented blog. Let this be “The Eternal Nithing Redux” and as I’m a little behind on this so we’re just going to let Fischer take Nithing of the Week for the entire month of January.

Right Wing Watch reports today on Bryan Fischer, our perennial nithing, pointing out that he “likes to declare that he is “pro-Muslim but anti-Islam,” which, as RWW points out, “means that he simply wants to free all those poor Muslims from the misery of Islam by continually pointing out what a atrocious religion it is and preventing them from immigrating into the US”:

Christianity condemns what Islam exalts. Sawing the head off your wife makes you a good Muslim, but it makes you a bad Christian. Running your daughter down with your SUV makes you a good Muslim, but it makes you a bad Christian.

Shooting a roomful of your fellow soldiers after shouting “Allahu Akhbar” makes you a good Muslim, but to do the same thing in the name of Jesus makes you a bad Christian.

Flying planes into buildings, killing thousands of innocents, makes you a good Muslim, but it makes you a bad Christian.

Evil people will do evil things, but when you have a religion that says such evil things are good, a religion which says its god, its prophet and its holy book command Allah’s followers to carry out such atrocities, you are dealing with two religions that are as different as light is from darkness.

Do we really want to import people to our shores who believe that killing our daughters because they got raped is a good thing?

Fischer says that “Islam is an evil and wicked religion, and unworthy of a Christian nation.” I got one for Fischer: “Your form of Christianity is an evil and wicked religion and unworthy of a secular nation” OR even “a Christian nation” if that’s what you like to pretend we’ve got here. Seriously, Fischer, you give all religions a bad name and it’s difficult to blame people going atheists when they hear the bile come out of your twisted, ugly mouth.

Then Fischer says something truly incredible, given the degree to which he and his theocrats want to control what we say and do, even in the privacy of our own homes:

We will have to choose in America between Islam and a free press, because we can’t have both. We will have to choose in America between Islam and freedom of religion, because we can’t have both. We will have to choose in America between Islam and the truth, because we can’t have both.

He says “Bottom line: the less Islam there is in the United States, the better.”

Fischer, if what you’re selling is “truth” we don’t want any. And our bottom line is the less of your fundy extremist Christofascism we have in the United States, the better.”

Feel free to leave if you don’t like our Constitution and our constitutional rights. We won’t miss you.

  1. Hmmmm . . . that last bit might be the solution . . . exactly how much IS the import tax on “livestock” to oh, say, North Korea?

  2. Let’s check it out and wrap him up as a gift.

  3. There aren’t enough faces and palms in the world. Sheesh! In the words of that great mahatma, Bugs Bunny, “What a maroon! What a ignoranimus!”

  4. In the immortal words of Simon and Garfunkel, where have you gone Bugs Bunny?
