The Life and Thoughts of a Modern Day American Heathen

Gone A Viking

Gone A Viking

I’ve had my heart valve repair/replacement moved to 3/11 at 8 am. I’ll be in the hospital for 5-7 days and won’t be posting during that time. I look forward to returning to writing in a week or two.

Meanwhile, for your listening pleasure:

  1. Cool clip! This old woman’s “musical whore tastes” range widely… my usual answer to queries is this: “Gregorian chant to Goa Trance…”
Let this fist-balling, “I am Strong and Part of Nature” song guide you into accepting Those Who Rule. As I told you before, if you are not permitted to keep your talisman, give it to your Love to hold and leap emptyhanded into the void. It works! And you shall be all the more confident for it! All the best, Ing

  2. … sorry, I left something out: …guide you into accepting the “Whims” of Those Who Rule… That is the tough part! I know you have accepted Those Who Rule, otherwise you would not be Who You Are.

  3. Thank you Ing! Yes, I love Tyr, and “Hail to the Hammer” is one of my favorites. I mean, how can a devout Heathen go wrong with that?

  4. … can never go wrong with rhythmic energy… nor with a beer to honor the Gods… :-)

  5. Luck to you, H, in your operation. Looking forward to your return, hale, whole, healthy. Gods and ancestors be with you.

  6. Hoping that the healing process is kind to you. May good health find you after this event and keep you in its grasp for a very long time.

  7. Good luck and will we raise a horn to the gods for your good health!

  8. The internet is a strange community… we have no clue with whom we are corresponding… yet we are connected…
The comment of the Equinox 3/20 was disturbing in that whoever posted said the patient was not yet “awake”, though the operation was a success.
Please, whoever posted this, continue to keep us “in the loop”.
I am sure I do not merely speak for this ancient one, but for others:
we are concerned, we care, and we put our thought “out there”…
Let us know… good, bad, or otherwise! Ing

  9. Thank you for drawing my attention to that notice, fromthediagonal. I hadn’t seen it before you’d mentioned it. I do hope that whoever posted that will let us know what has happened more recently. It’s been a long time and concern is certainly high at this point.

  10. I’m with you two. I understand that this isn’t something that one recovers from immediatly but a quick update would do a lot to aleviate worry. Please let us know what’s going on.

  11. Checked out his FB page and noticed that there was an update that he was to be headed home tomorrow.

I’m sure it will come as a relief to all his friends and followers here to know that. I’m sure we all still send our best wishes to him during his recovery and hopes that health keeps him in its grasp for a good long time now!

  12. He’s ok? Excellent

  13. My mistake – He was to be headed home on Monday according to the message on FB. I know no more than that and have no inside information but hope all is well with him as I’m sure everyone else here does.

  14. Once again… we are a community which has no clue about one another, except that we follow a thread of thought, via internet or otherwise, and this is merely a voice of concern for one I respect:
It seems that Hrafnkell is in trouble… in more ways that one… as may be his family…I wish them strength… should they need it…

Let’s join in a circle around a cyber fire (if a real one is not an option) and give him the warmth of the gentle flame of our wishes for recovery.

Yes, I realize, we are past the full moon now, but the waning cycle also tells us to take care of ourselves, to listen to our Inner Selves…so do it!

One of Iceland’s volcanoes is still pouring out molten rock…
Hrafnkell shall, as do we all, live or leave at the whims of Nature…
Call me a fatalist if you must…
I see it as the Indifferent Call of the Seasons, which is, after all, different for any and all of us.
