Makarios, I'm as terrified and confused as anyone. The more I read, the more frightening the depth of the dominionist conspiracy (I know of no other term for it).

The birthers; They even have political candidates and office holders expressing doubts now about Mr. Obama's birth credentials. It's absurd. And the level of racism is so very tangible and in some cases not even disguised. Barack the Magic Negro? After all this time I have not gotten over that one. I was honestly shocked by the level of racism we've seen since his election. I guess I was naive in thinking we'd moved past that.

I have to wonder too why they put up with the Oath Keepers. Is the government afraid to act? Are they afraid if they did they would trigger a coup or insurrection?

And let me tell you, if a new Civil War started, I'm living in the wrong neighborhood. Not only am I living in the Colorado Springs of the Midwest, but I"m about the only guy in my neighborhood who doesn't have a southern accent. I'm pretty sure in a redux that Indiana would not go with the Union.

Ærinndís, I joined the Pagan Newswire Collective and through that association entered the PNC blogging project known as P+P. I've discussed politics here before (particularly during the 2008 campaigns) and likely will again but that seemed like too good a venue to pass up - plus the chance to work with other bloggers of different political perspectives. I'm really looking forward to Pagans "flexing some political muscle" and talking about some of the hot button issues of our Age.

I look forward to hearing what you think of Mr. Weinstein's views!

I've read the interview, and I'm taking the liberty of commenting here rather than over there.

As a Canadian resident, I find this particularly worrisome, given the current level of polarization in the United States. Recent polls have found that nearly 25% of Americans either believe that President Obama was born outside the U.S., or are unsure whether he was or not. There is a significant proportion of the citizenry that cannot accept the legitimacy of the election of a black president. And I would venture to suggest that these individuals are the ones who tend to be armed, demented, and potentially violent.

What does this have to do with the armed forces? To be quite blunt, I don't like having to wonder, in the event of an attempted takeover of the U.S. government, which way a domionist crusader army would jump--assuming that it wasn't the crusader generals who would be leading the coup in the first place.

My question--not for you, but for the Commander in Chief--why are these people still in the armed forces, some of them with stars on their shoulders? They openly display their contempt for the Constitution that they swore to preserve, protect, and defend, and for the orders of their lawful superiors. Surely President Obama must understand that their continued holding of high military rank is a threat to him personally as well as to Constitutional government in the U.S.

Wassail! You're name is getting out there. I actually read about your interview and P+P on another blog (The Wild Hunt) before coming over here. I'll leave you a more educated response after I've investigated the discussion more fully. :)
