Stuck in the Middle (Or Abraham’s Kids Are Loose in the China Shop)

Here we are in a world dominated by Abrahamic monotheisms who hate each other with a passion. Each one has “sole possession” (just ask them) of the capital T-Truth and they haven’t stopped fighting for as long as anybody can remember – either attacking the rest of us or each other. This nonsense has been going on for about 26-centuries or now and it shows no sign of stopping. The latest source of controversy is the results of a UN fact-finding mission looking into the recent Gaza “conflict” – the “Goldstone Report” (Head of the UN Fact Finding Mission Justice Richard Goldstone, a South African Judge). This was presented in Geneva on 29 September 2009, affirmed by the UN and condemned in the halls of Congress. The US House of Representatives rejected the report as “irredeemably biased” because it says Israel committed war crimes during its military assault on the Gaza Strip. Ignored by the House, it would seem, is the accusation that Hamas also committed war crimes. Apparently (and I’m guessing here?) our government cannot accept that Israel might commit war crimes (of course, we can’t admit we commit them either so there you go…). The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) is up in arms and complaining about Arab cartoons lampooning Israel (remember when the Arabs were up in arms about cartoonists lampooning the Prophet Mohammed?).

I think you see by now where I’m going with this. The rest of us are stuck in the middle of this crap, forced to ring-side seats of a strife that only gets worse by the day and which the rest of us have and want no part of. I shouldn’t even have to have my mailbox filled up with this crap. These people hate each other. Okay, fine. Hate each other. But leave the rest of us out of it. Ideally, you’d all get your big “Final Bonus” and get beamed up or whatever, and real estate values for the rest of us would go through the roof. But that’s the dream scenario and it isn’t going to happen because none of you have any sort of grip on the truth, let alone some capital T-Truth. YHWH is a god. Fine, we get that too. But he’s not the only one; he’s just one of many and he means little to those of us who don’t follow him. Some of us worship other gods. Our gods, at least, are credited with a certain level of sanity and have never been said to brag about initiating genocide – or planning it, like your end-time scenarios claim.

So I have email about the ADL and I have email by other groups wanting to halt Israeli genocide or war crimes, and I have everything in between. These people need to get a grip. The rest of us don’t want to go down this road with them or because of them. And to be brutally honest if they all killed each other the rest of us would be better off (again, think real estate values). But that’s not likely either. They’ll just all stick around killing and hating each other when they’re not killing and hating the rest of us. We didn’t have this crap to deal with before monotheism was crammed down everyone’s throat and we shouldn’t have to deal with it now. So from me to Abraham’s kids: GROW UP! All of you think you have THE moral high ground. Well I got news for you: NONE of you have any moral high ground. NONE. So get over yourselves and start acting like responsible adults. Twenty-six centuries of this crap is more than enough.
