She was always a more moderate, progressive Lutheran anyway. My dad was only nominally a Christian and actually provided me with literature when I was searching for answers, including my introduction to ideas of a historical as opposed to theological Jesus. My mother's family has never had a problem accepting me for what I am - for them, religion is a private thing and between you and the divine, however you might see it.<br /><br />I like your come-back...I think it's obvious we're just folks too, but conservative Christians can't get past the "Other" barrier. You find nature scary? That's another Christian "hang-up" – even the Hebrew Bible finds nature "good" since YHWH is supposed to have made it and he can't make anything bad. The worst any Pagan philosopher can find to say about it is that it's corrupt/imperfect (Plotinus)

A person should certainly be free to celebrate or not celebrate as they see fit. Personally, Halloween isn't a Heathen holiday at all so I don't celebrate it as such, though I respect those who do. Also from my perspective, it's a shame that yet another originally polytheistic holy day should be corrupted.
