Seasonal Lunacy
It’s hard to know what to say about this nonsense, so I’ll just let them speak for themselves. ‘Tis the seasons, after all, but it’s lunatics and not the dead and there is no veil between the worlds to protect us.

Next up, something just as batty: The Danger of Celebrating Halloween Far as I can tell, the only thing dangerous about Halloween is that all the lunatics of the Christian Right come out of the woodwork.

Satan has a special little candy factory in the north pole where his elf helpers inject candy with liquid gargoyles (in the winter they inject "presents" with them, but most people don't know that).
They proved it along time ago when they decreed the earth is really flat. It was dog-eared in with that bill, so a lot of people (especially us heathens) missed it.
On a more serious note, though perhaps you should hand out Christian hosts for Halloween. At least then if people subscribe to the belief, they'll become possessed by "good" demons.

Hahahaha! I got a great laugh out of those articles – seems to me *someone* is just upset because they never got invited to the Halloween parties in sixth grade

Maybe true, maybe not. But anything that is scary in nature – I don't let my children have anything to do with it. But "it's trick and treat", you say, it's just all fun… well, maybe we can think of something else that is funny & soothing & enjoyable to do as a family during that day…

Maybe true, maybe not Obviously I'd argue "not", especially given that Robertson's ideas about demons are particularly Christian and therefore not part of "original" religion.

You find nature scary? That's another Christian "hang-up" – even the Hebrew Bible finds nature "good" since YHWH is supposed to have made it and he can't make anything bad. The worst any Pagan philosopher can find to say about it is that it's corrupt/imperfect (Plotinus)
A person should certainly be free to celebrate or not celebrate as they see fit. Personally, Halloween isn't a Heathen holiday at all so I don't celebrate it as such, though I respect those who do. Also from my perspective, it's a shame that yet another originally polytheistic holy day should be corrupted.

lol…well, thats first that the Devil is not blamed for…lol….you should have seen the face of my mother-in-law when I told her I am pagan…I just had to, she kept on going saying that yoga is from the devil, pagans are evil….
I tried to explain the philosophy behind almost every pagan religion – dont hurt none, but she wouldnt have it…so I told her and asked if I am evil…lol…dumbfounded, jaw on th floor, lost look in the eyes…lol
Jasmina, surprisingly, my mother took it well, almost without a murmur. She was always a more moderate, progressive Lutheran anyway. My dad was only nominally a Christian and actually provided me with literature when I was searching for answers, including my introduction to ideas of a historical as opposed to theological Jesus. My mother's family has never had a problem accepting me for what I am – for them, religion is a private thing and between you and the divine, however you might see it.
I like your come-back…I think it's obvious we're just folks too, but conservative Christians can't get past the "Other" barrier.
