The Heathen Sacred
I wanted to draw attention to a post by Selkie on her blog, The Bog & Owl Journal, in which she discusses the sacred in an ancient Pagan context. It’s a subject I plan to post on myself in the near future but she beat me to it and quite frankly, her discussion is a very good one and well worth a look if it’s a subject you’re interested in! Find it at The Bog & Owl Journal
Hrafnkell Haraldsson is the author of A Heathen’s Day, which since 2005 has addressed the life and thoughts of a modern day Heathen. He maintains a second blog, Digital Gods (www.digital-gods.com) which focuses on polytheism for the digital age. He is also the founder of the Mos Maiorum Foundation (www.mosmaiorum.org) which is dedicated to the study and support of Paganism as ethnic religion.
thanks for the heads up- what people find sacred always interests me.
could you also post on what you find sacred in the present in your religion as well? for one thing, it might help me not step on anyone’s toes unintentionally. (i know exactly how to get the xtian fundys going, but i have no idea whether or not i offend pagans 12 times a day on accident.)
not that i want to piss you off. that may have come out wrong.
No problem and no, that didn’t come out wrong. I can’t honestly say what’s going to offend every Pagan, of course. Heck, I probably offend Pagans from time to time too in one way or another but definitely have to be careful with things that are held sacred!
PersonalFailure, we Heathens don’t do wounded feelings much. If you can engage us in a good argument, you haven’t offended.
