Poll Results
The poll results are in. The question was, “If you think of yourself as a Pagan, are you also a polytheist?”
The possible answers were:
Yes, I am a polytheist
No, I am not a polytheist
Here is how you answered:
I think the results are interesting. There are more polytheists out there than I had thought. Of course, we could narrow it down to try to find out how people define polytheism, but I’m moving on to a slightly different subject this time.
So stay tuned for a new poll!

Hrafnkell Haraldsson is the author of A Heathen’s Day, which since 2005 has addressed the life and thoughts of a modern day Heathen. He maintains a second blog, Digital Gods (www.digital-gods.com) which focuses on polytheism for the digital age. He is also the founder of the Mos Maiorum Foundation (www.mosmaiorum.org) which is dedicated to the study and support of Paganism as ethnic religion.
That is a lot! I didn’t think it would be that many. I would be interested to see how many would be “hard” or “soft” polys though because to me, “soft” polytheist is another type of “mono-something* in disguise.
Personally, I don’t care what people think though. The gods will set us all straight when we begin talking with them. (:
It’s so difficult to quantify “intent” that I hesitated to even make this poll. I envisioned a dozen possible answers to capture each “shading”. Some people may not answer at all because there are only three possible answers but I needed to keep it from getting too unwieldy.
I agree with you that it doesn’t matter what people think. Our strength is diversity. We don’t have to agree and we shouldn’t worry about whether we do

“Soft” poly = mono? No.
Yes, Hrafnkell, our diversity IS what makes us great!
Absolutely, Pom. I’m looking forward to seeing what the results of the new poll look like as well.
Pom: A lot of times, I does mean that. People who believe in one Divine that manifests in a myriad of forms are not, imho, polytheists. I’m not saying they’re wrong or anything, just my take on it.
