A Work in Progress
Danish Heathen N.V. Andersen has written a new piece for Mos Maiorum entitled,
A Work in Progress: Notes on some challenges facing neo-Paganism. I invite everyone to read her article, which presents her take on the state of Paganism today.
Please feel free to leave feedback here. Thank you to Nina, who was trained as an archaeologist, for taking the time to write this.

Hrafnkell Haraldsson is the author of A Heathen’s Day, which since 2005 has addressed the life and thoughts of a modern day Heathen. He is also the founder of the Mos Maiorum Foundation (www.mosmaiorum.org) which is dedicated to the study and support of Paganism as ethnic religion and writes for PoliticusUSA (www.politicususa.com)
A very good article and thank you for posting it.
How to live in this world and honor the old gods is, I find, difficult. What if the gods don’t like or appreciate the times we’re in? What if they don’t like my offerings because they weren’t the same as in olden times? How would I know? These are real questions that are, for me, tough to find answers for.
I mean, how does a vegan honor the Germanic gods when I don’t eat meat or mead? (I’m giving it up because of the honey factor.) Will the gods like veggie offerings, water or wine? Tofu? I don’t really know. (No laughing, H! (: )
Thanks again for posting!
All the thanks go to Nina, for writing it. Your question is a good one though. In ancient times, blood sacrifice was seen as the most potent and important type of sacrifice. Obviously, many other items were sacrificed, though, including foodstuffs, statuettes and any number of other things, including swords. My own take would be that it is not necessary to make a blood sacrifice. Most of us can’t, after all.
Great article, and thank you for posting it.

I’m just plain tired of internet comments motivated by Christian backlash. I’m getting on with life, and I wish everyone else would, too.
Um, MA who is that directed at? Just wondering because I don’t see the connection with the topic.
