The Life and Thoughts of a Modern Day American Heathen

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

A beautiful day today! I love the falling snow, especially when it’s become such a rare commodity. It looks lovely falling and it looks lovely accumulating. And I’ve never really minded shoveling it (unless it’s a couple of feet at once). It’s about 29 degrees right now. It’s been a nice day to stay home and enjoy the weather.

I haven’t had as much time today to work on site-related matters but I found the time to make my round of the blogosphere (a process I’m still engaged in) and I’ve visited the forums and posted replies to comments on Heathen’s Day, which has served to keep me busy (as has a little boy!).

I wanted to get as much done today as possible since tomorrow is NFL Sunday and I’ll be glued to the TV and my fantasy football stats all day. I did do a little work on the ezine project but mostly that involved setting up a subdomain, uploading files and testing what I’d already made, and then doing a little tweaking. I’m trying to get just the right balance of information on there. I’ve gotten a couple pieces ready for the first issue but have more to do to get it ready by Jól, which is my goal.

Meanwhile, Anssi gave me permission to use his article on Finnish Paganism so I’ll try to get that added to the articles at Mos Maiorum either tonight or tomorrow. Consider this an open request to anyone else interested in writing an informational piece about some aspect of Paganism. I want more than just my opinion on the site.

Oh, and we have a couple more people on the forum as of this evening so we’re up to 14 now, I think, and I’d like to welcome all the folks who’ve signed up over the past couple days. I also added an RSS feed there so people can get information about posts there even if they haven’t downloaded the Mos Maiorum Toolbar (my own easy way to check what’s happening).

Finally, I wanted to suggest people stop by and check out Jeff’s Druid Journal. He has a new biweekly newsletter he’s putting out, which sounds like a great project.

  1. So do you have a favorite team(s) or are you all about racking up points for FF? lol

  2. I was a football fan long before I started playing FF. Besides the Vikings, back in the 70s it was the Raiders (Kenny Stabler). I also liked the Broncos and the Patriots. I’m also a Colts fan (of course) and a Tony Romo (and therefore *gasp* a Cowboy fan). That last is not easy to say after a lifetime of hating the Cowboys. I got so sick of the “America’s Team” bit.

Speaking of which, and I laugh everytime I think about this, do you know why they have a hole in the roof in Dallas’ stadium? So God can watch his team play LOL

  3. OH!!! As a Raider fan I cannot permit the Raider AND Bronco fan-ship! It’s just wrong! LOL And I’m married to a Bronco fan. Let’s just say that when they play each other we roll out the tylenol and the tums! LOL (this year was a GOOD year for me!)

And I know the Raiders are pathetic – I guess that just speaks volumes about my loyalty (lovin’ ‘em even though they suck).

  4. It worked like this for me: while the Raiders had Stabler, Branch, Van Eeghen, Biletnikoff, et al. I was a Raider fan. As was as much the players as the spirit. Then along came Denver with the Orange Crush defense in 1977 so yeah, they did sorta overlap! I then lapsed as a Bronco fan until Elway came along at which time I became a Bronco fan again, but the Raiders ceased to be a fave when that group of players disappeared (and Madden had retired). The Raiders now are pathetic, almost charming in their lack of ability except when it looks like they’re not even trying, like Darren McFadden not even lifting his arms to try to catch a pass. Since he doesn’t have stick-um all over him like Biletnikoff did, that won’t work, as he should know!

  5. OUCH!! lol

  6. I am so jealous! I miss the snow!!!!

However… walking the kid to school at 8 in the morning and it is only 65… isn’t too bad either.

Oh but how I miss the snow!

  7. I hear you, Lacey! Having had it both ways, I find I really need the snow, even though before I ended up in Orlando I used to talk about how I was going to have to move south eventually. I admit some of the colder days make being outside a chore, but for me the warmer climes are places to visit, not to live.

  8. that’s what we are finding… ;)
